Rogers Consulting

Rogers Consulting is owned by Robert R. Rogers, DMD, and Mary Beth Rogers

We were pioneers in developing the field of dental sleep medicine. We helped to create the premier organization now known as the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) with others to promote the use and acceptance of oral appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Rogers was a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) task force that reviewed the literature and led to the new 2005 updated practice parameters for the Treatment of Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea which states the following:

Oral appliances (OAs) are indicated for use inpatients with mild to moderate OSA who prefer them to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, or who do not respond to, are not appropriate candidates for, or who fail treatment attempts with CPAP. Until there is higher quality evidence to suggest efficacy, CPAP is indicated whenever possible for patients with severe OSA before considering OAs. Oral appliances should be fitted by qualified dental personnel who are trained and experienced in the over all care of oral health, the temporomandibular joint, dental occlusion and associated oral structures.

Our Mission now is to establish pathways and best practices to provide patients, dentists and physicians increased access to dental sleep medicine along with effective treatment outcomes. This has led us to develop our new program Best Practices in Dental Sleep Medicine.
